Great Day at Great Falls

I am making an effort to pursue a healthy lifestyle and create good habits to maintain as I get older. Throughout college I tried my best to eat well and exercise, but with all the schoolwork and distractions that come along with a university setting, it wasn’t always easy. Now that I am officially a college graduate I’ve decided it’s really time to get serious about healthy living.

My sister and I decided to go for a hike at Great Falls–a beautiful part of the Potomac River with cascading falls separating Virginia and Maryland. It was a gorgeous day for a hike and we brought Bailey along with us.  We stopped at Corner Bakery along the way to eat a quick breakfast. We each ordered a “Power Panini” which consisted of whole wheat flat bread, egg whites, spinach, cheddar cheese, and avocado. It was delicious and each only cost $1 with the coupons we had. We headed off to the falls and when we arrived Bailey was so excited to get out and explore.

We hiked up and down a rocky trail and then rested for awhile by a beautiful view of the river. We all had a splendid time.

I was reading up a bit on the falls and they have a very interesting history. But many people are deceived by their beauty, they are very dangerous. About seven people a year drown in this part of the river due to the extremely strong current. But luckily all three of us made it out safely!
