Belmar Beach Day

I drove up to New Jersey this weekend to attend a family reunion to celebrate Father’s Day. It was a beautiful day and we were outside for most of it. As a special surprise, my college friend Mel and her boyfriend met up with us at my aunt’s house! I didn’t expect to see her but it worked out that she was already attending a friend’s BBQ close by and was able to come hang out for a few hours. It was great to catch up with her.

On Sunday, we woke up and got breakfast at a nearby bagel shop and headed down the shore to Belmar. It was a cool and cloudy day, the sun tried peeking through the clouds, but it was still so pleasant. The beachy air and sound of the waves felt so familiar. We got some crispy thin pizza from a place facing the water and walked up and down the main drag for a bit. My parents and their friends used to go to this pretty famous bar called D’Jais when they were younger and lived up in New York/New Jersey which is still in operation, so we stopped by and took a picture. We plan on coming back up to stay at Belmar for a weekend sometime this summer and I look forward to possibly going there to experience it for myself!

I am currently on my way back to Northern VA but was glad I got to spend some time up in Jersey. It reminds me of my childhood years visiting the Shore and I look forward to many more. It was a great Father’s Day weekend celebration!
