Cena Italiana

After months of sitting on the shelf, the Italian pasta I bought my mom from Italy for Christmas was finally made. While traveling with two friends in the South of France, we decided to make a quick trip to Italy. It was a short train ride from where we were staying in Nice. We had lunch in a little town called Ventimiglia, did some shopping, ate gelato, and relaxed. I decided as part of my Christmas gift to my Mom, I would buy her some homemade pasta from Italy! I bought a pasta called Maccheroni al Farretto, which I had never seen or heard of before. My family ate it for dinner tonight with pesto sauce (which the lady at the store I bought it from recommended I make it with) and baked tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. I had also picked up a bottle of Pinot Noir to accompany the meal.

Everything tasted so delicious. We all really tasted a difference with the homemade Italian pasta. It was chewy and firm and picked up on the pesto sauce spectacularly well. I only wish I had been able to buy more!
