Eva’s Lens: J’adore Paris

If you asked me to pick a place to travel to, I could give you a whole list. And even though I’ve been to Paris a few times, it would still be one of the ones at the top of my list. I just love Paris. The city of lights, the capital of fashion. The beautiful, delicate and complex language. Where the Eiffel Tower stands tall and the crepes are mouth-watering. Where the romance is off the charts. Where the classical architecture is like none other.

I first visited Paris with my family when I was a teenager. We ate many delicious meals and walked around forever. We explored all of the museums thanks to my art-influenced mother (who thinks she was French in her past lifetime) and stayed in a fabulous hotel where I’ll never forget the view out the window and the lavender filled smell of the sheets.

My second visit to Paris was in college while studying abroad. My group had an action packed weekend with lots of moving parts. The most memorable moment was when my best friend Meg and I woke up early and walked what seemed many miles to get to the Notre Dame, where we would later meet the rest of our group. The city was extra quiet that morning and we reminisced on how we always hoped this moment would happen, together. We sat in the Jardin de Tuileries and I took a video of our surroundings. Meg (who is also convinced that she was French in her past lifetime) cried of happiness. Like I’ve said in previous posts, it’s so important to cherish the little moments while traveling and take in your surroundings. This was definitely one of those times.

I dream about my next visit and hope that it is filled with pan au chocolat, sipping wine at an outdoor cafe, and strolling along the Seine. Have you been to France? What was your favorite part? Paris, tu me manques.

  • […] Another vivid memory I have is when I was in Paris with my study abroad group. My friend and I woke up early and made our way to Notre Dame, passing through the Jardin de Tuileries before we met up with the rest of the group. We sat in the garden as I pressed the record button on my digital camera and took in the moment. It was a surreal moment for the both of us to be in Paris together and I wanted to document it. In the video, I said the date, time, and what our plan was for the day and how we were feeling. When I watch that video, even though it was only a minute long or so, it definitely brings me back.
