Namaste by the Beach

I have always wanted to try yoga by the beach. I enjoy taking yoga classes indoors but doing yoga by the beach was definitely on my bucket list. I had the opportunity to check that item off my bucket list over Halloween weekend, and it lived up to my expectations!

I visited Los Angeles again in October to celebrate Halloween and a friend’s birthday with my boyfriend. The weather was gorgeous as always and Halloween day was one of the most unique Halloween’s I have had.

Saturday morning started off by joining my friend Emily for a FREE yoga class by the Pacific Ocean. The class was called Dharma’s Yoga on the Bluff. It was held on a soft, grassy bluff, overlooking the ocean under an enormous shady tree. The class drew all kinds of people, men and women, old and young, humans and dogs! It was such a fun surprise to see puppies all around waiting patiently as their human did yoga. The sound of the ocean, the warm sun, and the inspirational leader all left a relaxed feeling on my soul. It had been awhile since I had done yoga, and it felt so good to stretch.

After the yoga session, we met up with our boyfriends to explore an adorable fall farmer’s market right across the street. (I wish I had captured a picture but I didn’t!) There were tons of kids and adults already dressed in costumes and entering Halloween contests. Dozens of stands were lined up selling fruit, vegetables, smoothies, pastries, tacos, guacamole, really they had everything you could ask for. It was held at Bixby Park in Long Beach California. I absolutely recommend that combination of outdoor yoga and then eating lunch at a local farmer’s market. (So California, I know).

After that, we got some food to make dinner that evening and went back to the apartment to get our Halloween costumes ready. We dressed up as characters from the Super Mario Kart video game. When we went out for Halloween we brought theme music with us. We were so surprised by how many people reacted to our costume; we were even stopped by people to see if they could take a picture with us. We felt like celebrities. It was such a fun day and a very unique way to spend Halloween!

I hope everyone else enjoyed their holiday. I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving coming up in just 20 days! Can’t believe how this year is flying.

Happy Friday!
