2015 is drawing to a close and 2016 is only a few short weeks away. As is expected, I find myself thinking back on 2015 and how much has happened and changed over the year. Every year brings its own set of challenges, excitement, and adventure. I have to say, personally, 2015 has been one of my best years yet. Your 20’s can be a rocky time. We are learning who we are and what we want. Up until this year, I was wondering where my life was going, but I have finally found a direction. It isn’t easy to make changes, but this year turned out to be filled with adventures around every corner.
Here is a summary of the big moments from each month of this past year. I hope it inspires you to reminisce on your own year–the good and the bad. The only way to move forward is to know where you are coming from. Enjoy the summary below –I hope it ignites you to embark on your own adventures in 2016!
January: I left my stable job at Cvent to start a new path. My lovely co-workers threw a big going-away party.
February: Wonderlost was born! I returned to blogging and haven’t stopped since. My friend, Eva Martin, joined me in this blogging adventure and it has added to how wonderful 2015 has been.
My grandfather also passed in February, my last grandparent left, but it gave my cousins and I the opportunity to reunite and catch up on each other’s lives.
March: My cousin, Colette, came to visit us in D.C. and we spent several days exploring the sites of my hometown city, biking around to all the monuments.
My mom and I also booked a spontaneous trip to Ireland and it has been one of my favorite trips to date. We visited Dublin, Galway, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Wicklow Mountains/ Glendolaugh.
April: My friends and I took a roadtrip to Richmond, VA to see our beautiful friend, Rachel, get married.
May: In May, my London gals and I had a reunion in NYC! Here are some of us outside our favorite British tea shop, Tea and Sympathy.
For Memorial Day, my best friend, Kayla, and I took a trip to the beautiful Poconos Mountains. We hiked, ate delicious food, and explored her hometown, Jim Thorpe.
June: In June I didn’t take any trips but I did start dating my boyfriend, Ryan. And that is an adventure all to itself!
July: In July I took two different road trips with Ryan and my sister, Sara. Sara and I traveled to St. Michael’s. A quaint shore-town in Maryland.
My parents also threw a big summer BBQ with family and friends. There were lots of laughs and Puerto Rican food.
August: In August I decided on a new career–to become an Earth Science Teacher. This is when my direction in life really began to change. I also went through a surgery this month so no trips for me! I was lucky to have all my pets there to comfort me. <3
September: I traveled to sunny Los Angeles, CA for the first time in September to visit Ryan and my cousin, Ellis. I explored L.A., laid by the beach, and ate delicious food.
And my best friends and I finally took our big trip to Europe! Countries visited: England, Czech Republic, and Iceland.
London
Charles Bridge, Prague
Thingvellir National Park, Iceland
October: In October, I moved down to South Florida to live with my cousins for a month and a half. I wanted to take advantage of living near the beach while finishing some of my online courses.
I also visited Ryan, Wes and Emily in California to celebrate Halloween at the end of October.
November: In November I drove to Boston to celebrate Eva’s surprise engagement party!
December: I will be visiting one of my friends, Lauren, to celebrate New Year’s Eve with her in Philly–my final trip of the year!
My family also hosted a big Christmas party with family, friends, and neighbors.
All in all I visited four countries and seven states in 2015 and I took 17 flights (and a few car rides) to achieve that. I found a direction for my career and stayed in touch with friends, old and new. Here’s to 2016 and the adventures that await!
Wow you went to a lot of awesome places! Prague and Iceland are on my 2016 list!
