My Experience Using Airbnb in 3 Countries

Have you ever used Airbnb? I did for the first time last September and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I went from never having booked with Airbnb, to using it three times in three different countries over the course of two weeks. Several friends and I traveled to London, Prague and Iceland, and we decided to use Airbnb for all three locations. The prices were more affordable than hotels and it was like having our own little home! Way better than staying at a hostel.

Here is my experience with three Airbnb rentals in three different countries:

London Rental

The apartment we rented in London was in an incredible location. It overlooked Seven Dials, an area of Covent Garden in the heart of London. If you ever plan on visiting London please check out Covent Garden. All my friends I reunited with agree that it is our favorite area in London. Ben, the man who rented the apartment to us was very easy to work with. Although I didn’t have the opportunity to meet him in person since I was the last of my friends to arrive, he had the apartment in tip top shape for us. If you are looking for a place to stay in London, I recommend this apartment. Five of us stayed here and although quarters were a little tight (2 beds, one sofa and one bathroom) you can’t beat the location and price. The apartment runs for around $300 per night.

Prague Rental

Our apartment in Prague had a spectacular view and unique architecture. Although the location wasn’t perfect, we were still only a walk away from the heart of Prague. Our beds felt like clouds and waking up to the beautiful view of the city of 1,000 spires was unforgettable. (Also, the shower was incredible!) Our host, Kamila,  even met us in the morning to allow us to store our luggage in her office during our last day. She gave us a short walking tour of Prague on the way to her office and tips on where to eat and what to see. She was an absolute joy and made us feel at home in a foreign city.

Reykjavik Rental

The apartment my cousin, friend and I rented in Reykjavik was so nice I would have stayed there forever if given the chance. Not only was our host the kindest and most helpful woman on the planet (not exaggerating) it was decorated so adorably! The host, Dyrleif, has worked as a set designer, so all of her properties are professionally decorated and it shows. It had everything you could want or need in a rental–including high quality hair products. It was located a block from the main street in Reykjavik and was very clean and comfortable. When I eventually travel back to Iceland, I am so happy to already know where I will be staying! This apartment runs for about $100 on average per night.

Of course I can only speak for my individual experiences, but depending on the place you are traveling, it may make sense to look into AirBnb! Price-wise it usually comes in above a hostel but below hotels.

Airbnb Discount For First Time Users!

Never used Airbnb before? You qualify for $40.00 off your first booking by accessing Airbnb through Erin’s Discount Code. Airbnb is all about promotional marketing and since I would be referring you as a friend, I too will benefit by getting a $30.00 discount on my next booking. Travelers helping travelers! 🙂

Have you used Airbnb before? What was your experience?

I absolutely love Airbnb!! That view in Prague looks incredible!! My favourite part about using Airbnb is usually the hosts, they make all the difference! Its such a different experience and I feel like you get more of the local feel. I do like staying in hotels sometimes, but overall I definitely stay in Airbnbs more often. Their customer service is great too!ReplyCancel

I have also used AirBnB, but with a less than ideal experience. As a solo female traveler, you need to be very careful about what you are booking. Check out my post if you are curious (under Travel Tips), but it still leaves me chills thinking about it!ReplyCancel

I’ve never used AirBNB before, although I have heard both good and bad things about it (as you can probably expect with most things). The places you stayed in look really nice. I would definitely give AirBNB a try.ReplyCancel

It is so important to read reviews before booking. My friends did a lot of research before finding these places. Thanks for reading! ReplyCancel
