4 Easy Tips to Better Your Travel Photos

If you take enough pictures, when you look back on them you will feel like you are reliving those moments all over again – which is one of the reasons why photography is so special to me! Here are some tips to make your pictures extra memorable and artsy.

1. Approach it Differently.

Instead of taking a picture of something head on – try to approach it at a slightly different angle or from above/below the intended subject. You can create a sense of scale with each photo that is different than the rest.

2. Details!

If you have an eye for it, pictures with some detail are fun to capture. I love this picture because the ocean props hanging on this old gray barn-like structure make the picture so much better than if they weren’t there. Plus, the Jeep adds a beachy summer vibe!

3. Know your camera.

Practice taking photos with your camera and research what the different settings mean. There are many settings on a camera that you can change to enhance landscape, portrait or a still picture. If you are taking pictures with your cell phone camera, learn what the best lighting is to take a picture and don’t forget to use or not use the flash.

4. Use an editor.

After you take a picture, you can enhance it to make it better! Photoshop is the ultimate editor, but some easily downloadable apps (VSCO) are also great! Just a hint of brightness or contrast will do wonders.

Hope these tips help improve your travel photography – and don’t forget to document your travels after you return, by scrapbooking or simply documenting your time by making a quick photo album, or writing about your trip to remember the best of memories.
