5 Ways to Stay Healthy While Traveling

For a health conscious person with a routine and daily schedule, traveling can definitely throw you off. One way to keep on track is to simply be aware of your health habits. Follow these tips and you will be feeling more like yourself even after eating a plate full of pasta!

1. Drink water

This is key. To stay hydrated, bring a reusable bottle around with you so you can fill up when you run low. Drinking water helps you to stay energized, keeps your skin looking good, and helps you digest. Why wouldn’t we want these things when we are traveling?

2. Exercise

Walk instead of taking the bus or subway if possible. You’d be surprised how much walking you can do in cities – this one can be easy if you like to wander around while exploring. Depending on where you are, you may want to schedule a hike, get a bit of fresh air and see some nature. Keep those legs moving!

3. Don’t overeat

Over indulging can lead to sluggish behavior, which you likely won’t have time for on a trip. Try to have one fresh meal a day. Fresh means not processed – a piece of fruit, eggs in the morning or a salad for lunch.

4. Keep healthy snacks on hand

Instead of realizing you are hungry when it’s too late, pack an apple or granola bar in your bag. They are small enough to carry with you throughout the day and will hold you over until your next meal.

5. Stick to your routine

Just because you are on vacation doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still take vitamins or wake up go to sleep at normal times. This one is the hardest, in my opinion! But try to stick to a regular schedule.
