Go Wherever The Wind Takes You

I just celebrated another birthday and it was an incredible weekend spent with family and friends, surrounded by love and laughter. My sister gave me such thoughtful gifts (including the charger pouch I wrote about in my accessories to love post!) but I especially loved the quote “go wherever the wind takes you” on the reusable bag she gifted them in.

This past year has been one of changing course and pursuing my passion. Between traveling, blogging, and advancing toward a career in teaching, I feel confident that I am on the right path. I found myself laughing this weekend because my friends, family, and boyfriend all gave me gifts that had something to do with either travel or space. But those gifts reassured me that the things I love most are aligning with my career goals–and that is a dream come true.

We have all heard the advice to follow your dreams, do what makes you happy, love what you do etc., but sometimes it can be hard to make that a reality. Life is complicated, bills are expensive, and sometimes we get unexpected surprises thrown at us. But this message “go wherever the wind takes you” makes me feel calm. I might have a perfect plan, but then something unexpected happens that gets in the way of that plan. It’s easy to get mad or frustrated because things aren’t going my way, but I found it’s better to go with the flow. When I let go of this idea of who I thought I needed to be and stopped forcing myself to be happy in a job I wasn’t happy in, my whole life suddenly opened up for new possibilities. Life is a journey with ups and downs, but I believe that it’s better to have a positive attitude and focus on the opportunity in front of you–rather than the disappointment–when things change.

So throughout this next year, I am going to let my spirit be light, stay away from negativity, and allow the wind to continue to push me in whichever direction I need to be taken. Who knows, it might be a better path than the one I was originally on. I believe the universe works in mystical ways.

Wishing you happiness today and every day!
