What to Pack for a Beach Getaway

Here are my summer essentials this year!*

It’s almost beach season! Memorial Day Weekend is almost here and many people are beginning to plan their beach getaway for the summer. I am heading out to California in just a few weeks and I’m preparing my packing list for what I want to bring.I decided to share a few of the things I’m planning on taking-hope it might helps you with your own packing list for the beach!

1. Comfortable Clothing

I like to pack comfy clothes for a beach trip. Beach towns are casual, so pull out those cotton dresses, loose shirts, and a few pairs of shorts. And don’t forget one or two bathing suits and a cover up. I like creative one piece bathing suits like the one pictured above!

2. Beach bag

You will need something to pack up all your goodies for the day. So invest in (or pull out of your closet) a good beach bag. I love this one from Target. The colors are perfect for the beach and the simple, woven texture will disguise the sand particles that will inevitably end up all over this bag.

I bought these adorable sandals (Italian Shoemaker) from Marshalls. They are so incredibly comfortable. The material is cushiony and I love the woven, colorful look of the sandal. They are perfect for wearing on or off the beach. Going to the beach is a great excuse to pick up a new pair of sandals!

shoe4. Sunscreen

Don’t forget the sunscreen. You have to protect your skin, especially if it’s your first beach trip of the season. I really like the Neutrogena Clear Face sunscreen (SPF 55). It goes on smooth and sinks right in without leaving a greasy feeling. And it doesn’t make my skin breakout! Whatever your preference, definitely make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen. I usually use a different sunscreen for my body and it is also a good idea to bring a hat to cover your face when the sun is beaming down on you. Also, make sure you don’t forget about protecting your lips too. They can get sunburned if they are exposed to the sun, so look for a chapstick with a little SPF in it too.

5. Beach towel

My favorite company is Sand Cloud for beach accessories and towels. 10% of every purchase you make goes towards marine conservation! Plus their towels are lightweight and so pretty. Click here to order one for yourself for 25% off 🙂

6. A great pair of sunglasses!

Eva turned me on to the site Quay Australia which have some of the funkiest sunglasses ever! My favorite are their Every Little Thing Sunglasses. Sunglasses are the easiest fashion statement to make at the beach, in my opinion.
