Tasty Travels: French Crepes

There’s nothing like a fresh crepe while in Paris… until you learn how to make it yourself!

My parents have a commercial crepe maker, and we have learned how to create delicious batter to make crepes. Our favorite types of crepes are nutella and strawberry, banana, and blueberry, and ham and cheese crepes.

To make the perfect savory crepe batter, use:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  1. Add all of above to a blender, blend on high for 20 seconds
  2. Stop, scrape sides of blender. Repeat 3 times
  3. Put carafe in refrigerator for 30 minutes to 24 hours before using

Now some of you may not have a commercial crepe maker, but a non-stick skillet will work! The key is to make them as thin as possible and flip them when they lift easily from the skillet.

I can’t wait to have an authentic French Crepe next week when I visit Paris!
