I had a very interesting conversation the other day with Tara Steeves, the Founder and President of Nomadic Leaders. We connected through a networking group we are both a part of and found we had a lot in common with one another. Tara is an entrepreneur, leadership, and holistic life coach who has started two location-independent businesses to help others achieve their potential. Tara did not want to settle for the status quo, but rather empower herself and others to build a life they would love, in addition to combining a love of travel and leadership. As she and I were connecting and chatting about what we value, it clicked for me that there are people out there who can help you achieve your dreams, no matter how unconventional those dreams may be.
Over the last few months I have given serious thought to the idea of location independence. The gift of the Internet has already empowered so many people to become their own boss and move their work online in order to travel more and take control of their time. Tara is someone who has done just that.
Here is what she has to say about her two ventures:
“Create Your Life! began in 2004 with 3 pro bono clients and I’ve built it into a 6-figure, location independent business that continues to thrive to this day. In 2016, its sister business, Nomadic Leaders, was born of inspiration, created to serve as a next level way to bring laptop leaders and mission-driven innovators together for an international travel experience like no other.
By making the everyday challenges of digital nomadism easier, Nomadic Leaders provides a powerful combination: done-for-you travel arrangements, leadership coaching and training, and an inspiring community made up of high-level human capital and connection. Do the work you love, on a global stage, your way, while also seizing the day, seeing the world, expanding your potentials alongside your mission, and harnessing the rich opportunities and fulfillment of a digitally nomadic lifestyle.” Tara Steeves
Tara inspires me through her hard work, entrepreneurial spirit, and rejection of the status quo. As I move forward in my own career and future, I want to build a life that supports the things I love. I want the flexibility to live anywhere, travel as much as I want, and share my advice and stories with the growing readership of Wonderlost. Each year brings with it new promise for change and growth, so I encourage you to evaluate what is important to you as the holidays approach. Try to create a plan to pursue a life you truly love, not one that you are just okay with. And look for mentors in your field–like Tara Steeves–to help guide you along the way.
