The food in Santorini was the most delicious and freshest food I have ever had in my whole life. I love mediterranean food anyways – but this really topped the charts for me. And I am such a foodie! I was stuffed after every meal and was a happy camper!
Some of my favorite dishes were at these restaurants:
Melitini serves Greek tapas and has a lot of dishes we didn’t find on other menus. There is no sunset view but they have a nice rooftop and patio. We ate dinner here with another couple we met and we loved it! Staff was nice and friendly too.
This is a small and unassuming gyro stand (cash only!) near the bus station. Hands down this was one of our best meals, it was so so delicious and exactly what we needed after our hike. I highly recommend Pitogyros for a quick lunch. They put french fries IN your gyro!
Karma has authentic Greek dishes and the atmosphere is so romantic and cozy. I am still drooling thinking about the delicious baked feta in filo dough drizzled in honey. It was absolutely amazing. If you go here definitely make a reservation and get the chickpea soup, too!
Katina (Oia, Amoudi Bay)
This seafood restaurant is literally on the water. We went for lunch and ordered octopus and a Santorini salad, with a delicious Donkey beer (Donkey brewery is the only brewery on the island) and a glass of house white wine of course. Whatever you do, definitely have one meal on Amoudi Bay!
Lolita’s (Oia, right by Pitogyros & the bus station)
The most delicious, creamy ice cream I’ve had in a long time. A local man even told us that it was the best!
Another scrumptious meal we had was on Santorini Yachting Club’s sunset boat ride. There was a chef on board who made us a village salad (which is at every restaurant in Oia – it is basically Greek salad without the lettuce!), pork, chicken, pasta with seafood, tzatziki, grape leaves, and an eggplant dish. It was a feast!
Our favorite meals were breakfast every morning at our hotel. We chose our items the night before and it was promptly delivered to us in the morning at the time we requested- such service! Our table was always filled with fresh fruit, juices, breads, and omelets. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.
- Order the house white wine if you can’t decide on a drink – it is always good!
- Most restaurants do not have a sunset view, so we would watch the sunset from our patio and then go to dinner after.
