This past summer I visited the beautiful town of Jackson, Wyoming, sometimes referred to as Jackson Hole. It is a quaint, Western mountain town with so much to see and do nearby. Though I visited during the summer, this town is lively year-round and is well known for its nearby ski resorts. You may be starting to plan your winter vacations, so hopefully this post will inspire you to consider hitting the slopes in Wyoming this winter!
Depending on your interests, there are a few options to consider when booking accommodations in Jackson. From enjoying winter sports to visiting the nearby national park to checking out the restaurants and museums in downtown Jackson, there is something here for everyone.
Snow King Resort
There are two ski resorts located close to Jackson: Snow King Resort and Jackson Hole Resort. Snow King is actually located within walking distance of downtown Jackson. There are many great hotels near Snow King, which is a prime location next to the heart of downtown Jackson. I especially heard good things about the Snow King Hotel Resort, which looked pretty spectacular! There’s also a wonderfully scenic restaurant at the base of the resort you should check out called Lift, which I wrote about in my previous post on Jackson.
Jackson Hole
The other main ski resort located near Jackson is Jackson Hole. This resort is located in Teton Village, about a 20-minute drive from downtown Jackson. This resort also has activities year-round and a wonderful restaurant /bar called the Mangy Moose, where you can warm up after a long day on the slopes. Rumor has it there’s an excellent waffle restaurant at the top of the mountain that’s also worth checking out!
Downtown Jackson
My family and I stayed in the Wyoming Inn in downtown Jackson, and we couldn’t have had a better experience there. It was so clean, was conveniently located, and had spacious rooms. It was an easy five-minute drive to either downtown Jackson or Snow King Resort, which is great if you’re interested in winter sports. There are so many things to do in Jackson, including visiting museums, taking a walking tour or ghost tour, checking out the many great restaurants, photographing the famous Antler Arches, or shopping for a unique souvenir to take home.
Of course, one of the best benefits to staying anywhere in Jackson, whether it’s downtown or at one of the ski resorts, is the proximity to Grand Teton National Park. It would be a shame to go all the way out to Jackson without paying a visit to this stunning national park.
