About Erin

Machu Picchu

Hello! My name is Erin Nicole Scherer – welcome to Wonderlost! Ever since I was a little girl I’ve had a strong urge to explore the world. When I was in college I saved up to realize my dream of studying abroad in London. I had the opportunity to visit five countries in addition to traveling around England.

During my time abroad, I wrote in a blog nearly every day. When I returned to the States I realized how much I missed writing (and traveling), so I decided to start this blog.  My vision for Wonderlost is to provide a place for me to record both my past and current travels throughout the U.S., Europe, and beyond, in addition to exploring my thoughts on the pursuit of creating a life you love.

We all come from the same stardust and are explorers by nature. We have been given an incredibly unique and special place to call home and I intend to see as much of it as I am able to. As my blog develops, my hope is that I can inspire readers to go out and explore something, whether that means traveling across the globe or across the street.

A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT ME:

In addition to managing Wonderlost, I work as the Social Media and Outreach Coordinator for a fantastic Internet company called ARIN. I manage their social media channels in addition to assisting with writing content for their blog and other marketing outlets.

I am a graduate of James Madison University with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts & Design (Corporate Communications) and a minor in Writing & Rhetoric. I was born in Miami and reside in Northern Virginia.

When I am not writing or working, you can find me watching space documentaries or playing with my favorite guy in the world–my big puppy Bailey.  In addition to traveling, I enjoy staying in. I like dressing up and wearing lipstick, but pajamas are nice too.

  1. Hello Erin,

First, I would like to thank you for reading and liking my book review of The Martian. And second, I would like to thank you for following my blog and site. I truly do appreciate it. As someone who has visited a few different countries and their respective cities, actually my blog started from such a visit to family’s homeland of Sweden, I can appreciate your passion for documenting your experiences and sharing it with the world. Following your blog will also remind me that I have a few articles about Stockholm, Sweden left in the bank and that I should go ahead and just publish them.

I’m looking forward to reading your articles and living through you vicariously for the immediate future. Hopefully, sometime soon in the near future I will be able to reciprocate my experiences and urban research of other North American cities (in addition to Minneapolis) and cities around the world with you and my other readers. Perhaps your articles will inspire within me some artistic creativity to add to the sometimes dry and monotonous nature of the mathematics and science of cities, yes?

Thanks and have wonderful day, Erin!

    Matt

  2. Love your site and realize why you are a designer — you’ve got great talent and a good eye for great shots. Thanks for following Oh, the Places We See. We love to travel — sometimes to the same places you write about — and enjoy great sites such as Go Blue Ridge Travel. Best of luck this year in finding new spots and new ways to show them off.
